Not the Best

This biology book is required for all of the Bio 101 classes at my local Community College. It's convenient because it can be found for 12$ on Amazon instead of the new price which is somewhere around $140, however I have seen much better textbooks. Biological Science is written like a mediocre history textbook. It flattens Biology as a subject and just teaches a superficial layer of details. However Biology is the study of life, and the subject has many layers and ideas that are applicable to not only everyday life, but many other fields of work. To have this textbook only explain the workings of a cell superficially is disappointing and is not going to teach students how great biology can be. Instead of using that required textbook, I have learning the concepts from the textbook Biology, 6th ed. by Campbell and Reese. Read the first chapter of each and you'll understand the difference between a well-written textbook, and Biological Science. And the better textbook cost me 4$ at my local used book store.

Amazing price, great condition

I bought this book for my Bio 121 class and it will be used for 122 and 123. So this was a great 30 some investment. I didn't know this came with the online activation key (which was something i needed) so i ended up buying the activation for mastering biology online which cost more than the book! haha. But saved money regardless if i were to have bought the book from my school's book store. The book came in the specified time and was in great condition!

The book was in excellent condition. Although it was used, you couldn't tell because it seemed like a brand new book. No marks or scratches on the exterior and not a single mark within the book contents. I am extremely satisfied with my purchase.

A Nursing School Must!!!

This book is a GREAT aide to have for the dreaded F&E exam. Best advice, get this book well in advanced prior to your exam and start studying. Plus, there are NCLEX style questions included that are VERY helpful too.I did VERY well on this exam and I give this study guide a thumbs up.

Everyone knows that F&E/ Acid Base Balance is one of the hardest chapters in Nursing School. This book helped me pass the test. If you are in Nursing School you need this book. It is very helpful for the test.

Don't Forget About The Disk

I was a bit biased towards this book because my Fluid and Electrolytes professor was one of the writers/editors. It seemed like a no-brainer that she would pull test questions from the text. This almost should have been required for the course, not just recommended, as it really helps you put together info from your textbook. My only piece of advice-don't forget about the disk in the back of the book. The questions are more difficult, and probably better represent an NCLEX test.

About the Author

George Beekman is an Honorary Instructor in the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Oregon State University. His innovative computer literacy course served as the inspiration for Computer Currents, the first edition of the book that evolved into Digital Planet. George Beekman has taught workshops in computer literacy and multimedia for students, educators, and economically disadvantaged families from the Atlantic to Alaska. He has written many books on computers, information technology, and multimedia, as well as more than 100 articles and reviews for Macworld and other popular publications. !!!!Be aware of what you are purchasing!!!!! I just realized the version that says "introductory" in the title is NOT the full text! Who the hell puts a book online under the same name with a one word difference??? This should be clearly spelled out for people that are not aware that you can purchase a full version as well as a short version which apparently has "introductory" in the title. I thought introductory meant introductory to the material. Introductory has 449 pages 10 chapters, and full version has over 656 pages and 15 chapters. Amazon should list all this information. I will be asking for my money back!!
